In Call of the Wild, the reader meets Buck, a once pampered, well cared for dog with an entire sprawling estate as his domain. Thrust “into the primitive,” Buck finds that there are new laws---unspoken and unwritten---that apply to his new life. First, he learns that there is a law of the club, and in chapter 2, he experiences the law of the fang.
Let’s apply this idea of “laws” to middle school life. What are the laws---perhaps unspoken and unwritten though they may be---of being successful in middle school? This can pertain to social rules, academic rules, athletic rules, and otherwise. Blog about your ideas in this post.

ReplyDeleteA rule for school that is the most simple is pay attention. If you pay attention then you'll go far. Study, learn, and have fun with learning! :)
ReplyDelete-ES
welll with the law of the man with the club that makes me feel like that of middleschool you dont stay up all night when you have a test the next day. and with the law of fang we as kids communate with words and sometimes harsh words let alone bulling witch is not right
ReplyDelete-A.M.
Laws included yet not said for middle schoolers are not very hard to understand. Some examples would be the laws of the studying, you only have to study every night in order to get a good grade. This could be hard if you have high extracirricular actives, though. there is also the law of lunch. You only sit at the tables allowed, so this means only the four tables. Laws of the school are very important.

Laws of Middle School, You say?
ReplyDeleteI would say that a "law" would be to ALWAYS take notes during class. Go above and beyond with the notes. These will help you to make great scores on quizzes and tests. I learned that when I kept taking more notes and the grades went HIGHER AND HIGHER! I now have an A+ in math because of notes. I believe this is one of the most important rules in Middle school.

Laws of Middle school??? Who know we are going to be wirting abouth this. Now I have had problems in the past year or so about middle school. I Want to tell you that if helps if you have a friend to lean on or to help you with homework. Also to be on a teachers side. What I maen by that is that you want to love your teachers not hate your teachers.
ReplyDeleteKeep your mouth shut if you have nothing proper to say, because it will always come back right at you. Some students are the dry grass to a wildfire. This is one of the most important things I learned in middle school.
ReplyDelete~SV
there are rules like that are not stated like the law of studying hard. If you study hard then you will probably do poorly on the assesment.
ReplyDeleteIf you have a super amazing offensive hockey team, then you shouldnt need defense that much, but sometimes you miss so the defense actually needs to work! If you are pestering and being annoying to other people then they wont like you. If you cheat off of some one, you'll feel terrible because thats bad and you probably got it wrong.

ReplyDeleteOne law of middle school is that you have to work hard. you can't just look at a study guide one time- you have to actually STUDY. i've figured out that studying with a parent or sibling is the very best way to study. i normally study with my parents. its easier to say what you think when you are with the people youve known since you were born. another law pertaining to trying hard, is that if you get really high grades you should never, and i mean EVER rub it in somebody's face. ever. nobody likes it when you boast or brag.
ReplyDeleteEven though I wasn't here to read the second law of the wild, I can definitly see that, these seriously comply to social laws of middle school. Some of the laws of the middle school world: don't tattletale...; keep ALL mean comments to yourself; don't pretend to be someone that you aren't; don't judge. There are going to be so many more to learn, and I'm sure there will be many connections to the laws of the wild in the book, Call of the Wild. IN a lot of ways, the Wild is middle school. Lots of rules, those who lead the pack, those who are in the pack, and those who are cast out of the pack to go their own ways...
ReplyDeleteC.M.
Keep your mouth shut if you have nothing proper to say, because it will always come back right at you. Some students are the dry grass to a wildfire. This is one of the most important things I learned in middle school.
ReplyDeleteThere are many laws of middle school. Some academic laws are that you have to study for tests. If you do not study, then you will not be successful in middle school. A social law is that you sit with your friends at lunch. A law for playing an instrument is playing often so you will continue to get better. These are some of the laws of middle school.
ReplyDelete-CH
Like in Call of the Wild, there are also "laws" in Middle school. An academic law that I follow is to always study and do your best in your classes. Then there are basic laws like being a good person and friend.
ReplyDeleteI expect to learn many more laws as the year goes on!

I have figured out that you have to kind of fit in. Stick with your old friends and make new ones too. you still have school so dont forget about that you dont want to flunk out. Still dont get too zoned in to school.

it isnt a law but trying hard is kind of an unspoken law in middle school. also another unspoken law is to make good friends, if you have bad friends they could lead you down a bad road

DeleteHave you ever heard of the laws of middle school? There are many, such as academic laws, social laws, and athletic laws. You can`t learn these laws beforehand you have to learn as you go along. For academic you need to study. For social, at lunch, wait a little while and groups will form where certain people sit. For athletic you need to try your best at all the activities. As you can see there are many different laws. E.D.
ReplyDeleteSocail laws are pretty much be nice to one another, Academic laws are for me are Always get a's every 9 weeks, and athletic laws are do your hw and keep my grade up then you get to play your sport

Middle School life is crazy. Drama, friends, new oppurtunities. It's amazing what we can do in the 'middle' of middle school.
ReplyDeleteThe biggest rule in my book is always be yourself. You don't want people liking you for the character you are acting yourself to be! Your friends like you for you, not the Hollywood actor. Be yourself!!!

ReplyDeleteMiddle School is like a totally differnt place with different rules. Just like in Call of the Wild, there are many laws in Middle School. Some of the rules are stay on task, be friendly, and work hard. Another very important law is not to goof off and don't be a troublemaker and ruin good opportunities for yourself and others. Then you will have to face the consequences.
ReplyDeleteMIddle school is tough you get to meet new people from other schools. Which also means new friends. We learn discipline through rules and consiquences just like Buck in COTW. If we don't follow the rules you could have silent lunch, detention and other stuff. Always be yourself and don't be shy express yourself.

the law of club and fang sortof relates to the real life but some of it does like teachers are your masters others are not but in the world your masters wont beat you with a club ...I hope.
ReplyDeleteOne law of middle school is..... DOING HOMEWOR, because if you dont do your homework then how will you know whats going to be on the test. I think if you dont do homework then you will probably FAIL the test! That is why i think you should always do your homework and actually try your best on it

Everyone has to follow laws there are laws in everything that you do games sports school and many more. As you go along in a sport or something you learn the laws mabey you can learn some basic rules befor you start this activity but most of the time the fartherb you get into the activity the more you know. Like is soccer or some sports in PE you cant use your hand and at school be on your best behaivior and make sure to do what the teachers ask and say. If you want to have a succssesful year in middle school then you need to follow all the rules such as at lunch stay in your seats. Also always treat the material that you are using like it is a baby always be carful with it. Make sure you take good notes and do what the teachers tell you and that is how to have a good year in middle school.
ReplyDeleteLaws of middle include being quiet, dont be mean to others, study when you have a test, keep your hands, feet and objects to yourself, to do your homework and turn it in on-time, dont work yourself to hard, listen to your teachers directions so they dont get mad when you dont know what they are, get to class on time, dont fool around, school comes frist.

How can you be successful in middle school? Well, there are many ways that can make you successful.First of all, you should study a lot to make good grades. Good grades are very important in school. They are important because the way that you get into good classes in high school reflect on your middle school grades, and then the way that you get into the college that you want reflects on your high school grades. That is why it is important for you to have good grades. Also, to be successful, you need to be a leader. Ways that you can be a leader is by helping out other people with what they need help with. Also, you can be an over acheiver and do extra work. Lastly, you should join in a lot of group activities and be a part of contest. Colleges often look at and are interested in the people who get involved with a lot of activities and sports. That is how you can be successful in school.

DeleteMiddle School can be easy if you follow the "laws". All you really need to know is don't talk when you not supposted to, do you homework, and pay attition. Honestly, its not that hard. Some times its hard to not break these rules for the entire year, but if you really try to follow these "laws" one minor bump-in-the-road really won't make the difference.
ReplyDelete-Maggie Owen
Middle school has many laws and rules. There are social, academic, and athletic rules. To follow the academic rules, you shouldn't talk when you need to and you need to always study for tests and respect your classmates. There aren't really any social rules, but at lunch, you can talk to your friends. To follow athletic rules, you should always participate in the activities they do. And always remember to, BE YOURSELF!!! ~J.D.
ReplyDeletewhat Maddie Hince said is true there is drama and a lot of different things so be nice to people it will be easier than drama so if you dont have anything nice to say dont say any thing

Middle School is different depending on who you are.
ReplyDeleteSome people are the Neat Freaks which I wish I was :)
Some people like letting loose and having fun while learning ...
Everyones per say "laws" are different for everyone..
The Basic laws are like kinda like the law of the club . Whoever holds the princible's job has the power to "control" the students....
Social Life : Being a Girl of middle school , HONESTLY there is TOO much drama. To be a good friend people belive to keep secrets and stay truthful.
BUT then that offends others , Saying stuff like "Im her friend too you can trust me ect... " Or If you don't share something , automaticley its a insult. I belive that if you were a good friend you would be friends with everyone, respect all, and not leave anyone out , including parties , get-togethers ect...
All i am saying is this is not a movie , Be real , Be yourself , and find good friends.
- JCho;)
There are many different uspoken laws in middle school including acadimic laws and sport laws. My biggest acadimic rule is to get all good grades for the rest of the school year. My largest sports rule is to try your best and have a lot of fun. There are as you see many important unspoken rules.

Laws in middle school are pretty simple. All you have to do is stay on task, listen to the teacher, pay attention,be friendly, and DO YOUR BEST. These laws could make your middle school life successful. If you don't follow them...well, you will eventually get in trouble and have a hard time. Remember, it's either follow them and be successful or don't follow them and have a hard time.

middle school is always different never be late, study for tests and quizzes, and always be prepared. middle school can sometimes change people also the best time of day is P.E. because you always have alot of fun.
ReplyDeleteMiddle school is so much different than primary school. Mainly from teh rules and regulations that we have to follow. These rules are very nice but theres some rules that maybe needed to change. I'm happy with alot of these rules, it gives us some freedom for myself and others. Like in the old days kids get whippeed if they didnt do there homework

This is for everyone with extra activities after school:
ReplyDelete-plan out what you are going to do before and after your activity

- Get up early in the morning to finish( but only if you absolutely can't get it done before you go to sleep)

Then when its time to leave for your activitie keep your homework in a safe spot. When you get back finish it but if you have to much homework and you cant do it at night try to wake up earlier the next morning. Only if you absolutly cant finish it.

First of all, Middle school is WAY different, than regular elementary, the difference is more homework..and you take ALOT of notes. So always be ready. My advice is raise your hand if you have a question..Don't be shy, if you have a question, ask. Also, never study at the last minute, even though if some people read this they'll probably ignore, but just a tip. Always listen, don't talk too much, even though you probably know that. Always follow directions, and TRY YOUR BEST. If you try your best and reach your goals, you'll proably exceed, and instead of studying at the last minute and failing the test, and whining about your grade. STUDY.
ReplyDeleteD.S~
The laws for middle school are
ReplyDeletealways do your best
study
pay attention in class
watch out for others, if they are having trouble, help them

be respectful to others
dont talk unless you are allowed to in class
To be sucessful in school you have to do your homework! Don't wait until late at night to do it. If you wait until morning or late at night to do it you are going to fall asleep or get every answer wrong.

You have to do alot in school. Everyone has high expectations for you so you have to try your best. You need to do all of your homework and turn all your projects in on time. Staying on task is important because you could miss important info that is used for later assignments. You need to respect people around you because if you talk to them, you could cause that person to get behind on something.
ReplyDeleteAH
In middle school there are also things like "the law of the club".If we dont listen to our teachers and parents then we could get hurt.Same thing with "the law of fang".If we dont respect each other then something bad copuld happen or we could make each oher upset. You should go with the flow and try not to make drama.
ReplyDeleteThe Call of the Wild's 'laws' definitely apply to middle school.
ReplyDeleteFor one thing, the laws of club and fang. They are really the same thing: Don't disagree with people stronger than you because they will make life harder. This is true but that doesn't mean you should go along with whatever someone with more power says.
In middle school, it's a bit harder to see this demonstrated because you don't have people fighting with their teeth in the halls. However, if you look closely you see it. For example, in group projects you shouldn't disagree with someone who has everyone in the group on their side or a more convincing argument than you in their favor because then you will end up with two sides and the project will never get finished and someone will be unhappy.
Middle school is a lot different from elementary school because you get more freedom. But the teachers do expect more from you so you need to follow the rules. You need to make the teachers like you or you will never gain their trust.
ReplyDeletethe unwritten laws in middle scholl have nothing to do with county rules
ReplyDelete- DON'T tell on other students unless it is very serious
- don't waste time looking over your test five times
-dont be a stuck up or techers pet
- always at least try in any gym activities, your team will dislike if they keep losing because of you
laws of middle school???? well in middle school there arn't many rules and you just need to go with the flow and don't need to go crazy if somthing small goes wrong. you sit with the people that you know and don't try to be someone you arn't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :):):):):):)

There are a lot of rules in school, but they are obvious rules like:
ReplyDelete-keep your feet and hands to yourself
-get to class on time
-behave in class
-be respectful to your fellow students and teachers
-HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This being the first year of middle school, I have found many laws of 7th useful. The biggest law that I have ecountered would be to DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!!!!! Most theachers will leave you alone, if you do your homework.
ReplyDeleteyour friend JS
The rule in middleschool is dont be a stuckup (Kissup, Brownnose, Teacher pet ect) I dont like it when a person interups the class to correct him or her or to make a comment. I dislike that so do many people because the day is hard and long and we really dont need a goody twoshoes making the day even longer, disrupting the class. This might help your teacher relationship. but your social life is ruined and nobody will like you. If you do this please straighten out your life and dont do it anymore

Never be an arrogant or stuck-up person in middle school.
ReplyDeleteIT IS NOT COOL. People who love themselves are considered losers.
We don't care how much money you have,
We don't care how fit you are,
We don't care if you're popular to any degree at all (which arrogant people aren't).
We kinda care if you have a lamborghini, though, cause that's pretty cool.
Overall, if you are arrogant, everyone is going to not like you. So, don't be arrogant!

In middle school, there are many things you can do to be succesful. First of all, you have to follow the rules of the teachers. Second, you need to be on track with your homework and school work. Finally, you need to find a group of friends that will be nice to you. Without friends, life in middle school would be tough. Middle school life can be fun and great if you folow the rulesof middle school.
ReplyDeleteThere are many unspoken laws in middle school that you pretty much have to follow to survive. Dealing with social rules you have to be honest and respect everyone, so others will trust you, and dealing with academic rules, you have to pay attintion all the time to do well. Lastly, if you are involved in sports, espicially team sports, you have to work together, because you can't do it alone.

DeleteThe laws of missle school are this
ReplyDelete1. DOn't take a flight to La-La- Land. I know it is fun, but trips are best saved for the weekend, when nothing important is happening! :P.
2. Work hard ALWAYS. What's the point of school if at sometimes you don't pay attention and other times your brain is going in to OVERDRIVE and your working your head off.
3. Long story short: Social time is not during the important instructions about creating a blog. It is for other times.
There are many other rules, but this is practically the BILL OF RIGHTS! :)
Wait, not MISSILE SCHOOL!!!!!!! I have added a number 4. DO a spell check!

CLASS LAWS: DO NOT talk in class. You are going to want to listen, and follow all directions. This will not only help you this year... but in a ll years, and in every calss.
ReplyDeleteSOCIAL LAWS: I am a girl so i know from experience you don't want to be the social outcast. You want to be with a crowd of people that you trust, and that you like right?!? Right. So, just be your self, dont try to show off, and DO NOT try to start drama, because if you are the one who starts it...things will go down hile from there.
OTHER ACTIVITES: Do what you love to do. Whether it is basketball, or football, or even chess club. Because listen to me closley on this...if you play chess...but you dont want to be a nerd and you play basketball, GOOD LUCK!! Honestly i would rather be with people i know, and in an envornment that i love, then try to "fit in" and be "cool".
So ~ overall just be YOU. When you are being true to yourself things will be alot easier for you.
Try to respect others. You're a human too!
ReplyDeleteDO HOMEWORK!!!! It helps
Listen!
Popularity doesn't really mater. As long as you have friends, you're doing ok.
P.S. Always be a unicorn!!! It's what Fredward wants!
Rules, rules, rules!!! There are a lot of rules ion middle school that you need to follow, and here are some of them:
ReplyDelete* stay focused and use your time wisely
* pay attention so you can pick up on the little helpful hints the teachers may give
* don't talk while the teacher is talking, or you will miss what he/she is talking about
* set goals for yourself and strive for the best
* make the right decisions
For social rules, here are some of the most important ones:
* be yourself!!! If you do this then you will know that the people who become your friends are real and not fake.
* Don't wait for others to come up to you; you need to reach out and meet them half way
* always be honest. If you tell a lie, then that leads to another one, which leads to another one, etc.
* don't get involved in other people's drama
* be friendly and choose the right people to be friends with

DeleteDear Reader,
ReplyDeleteIn this this comment you will be given all the information you need, without really trying.
~ If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all.*Congradulations! You have started to learn the rules of Middle School! You should know who your friends are, and who you choose not to be with. The people who don't want to be with generally don't follow the first rule. Follow them, and choose wisely.
~ Pay Attention!+*throughout Middle School, projects will always "seak up" on you. Pay attention to due date. Don't procrastinate, or you'll end up rushing in the end. So you havent procrastinated, after all this time? Always.
~ Don't blow off your homework. *By this time, your Middle Schol life should be under control. But if you are blowing off homework...Run! I recommend checking back to rule 1. Homework may seem like such a little section of your grades, but it can have a large effect.
** Follow these rules, and you are sure to succeed in Middle School... Without Really Trying!

I think the most important rule of middle school is to not be negitive to others. Even though you arn't breaking any rules, you should at least be positive on the outside.

Middle school has many rules you need to follow! Some of them are academic; some are social.
ReplyDeleteAlways do your best work in class. If you do anything less then that, you aren't getting the grade that you can truly achieve!
In social-ness, always be yourself. Would you rather have a ton of friends, who like you for some show you put on, or a few true friends who like you for who you really are?
You're welcome ;)
~Abbey Pinkerton
~ Make alot of friends. They'll most likely support you later on.
ReplyDelete~ Study 5-10 minutes every night the week of a test.
~ Take notes and write down everything the teacher tells you to write down. If you don't understand very well, try breaking it down, and make little acrosstics.
~ Do everything you can to understand the topics and do well in class.
If you want to success in middle school then you should follow instructions and listen well. also you should study for your tests. Remember silent and listen are spelled with the same letters. If you follow rules then you will have so much fun! And remember Happy hunger games and may the odds be ever in your favour! :)
