Creative Problem Solving

Now that you are almost at the end of the Creative Problem Solving Process, it is time to reflect. Consider the steps of the process and how they have helped you to come to a conclusion for the problem you identified. What skills were involved in the process? Which skills were most difficult? Which skills came easily for you? What did you learn, not just about the Titanic, but about thinking and evaluation, in general? How can this kind of thinking help you in other parts of your life?

  1. when using CPS you can write paragraphs, do essays, and so much more. I ve learned that this works best with group projects because it can help you organise your thoughts and it can also help you pick a topic. CPS is a very usefull skill.

  2. Problem solving in the Titanic mess paper research project was really difficult because of the different processes that we had to go through. I think that just being able to pretend that we are a "Global Problem Solving Think Tank organization was to pretend to do. Every so often you have to have fun!

  3. There were many skills that my group and I used to solve the problem of the Titanic sinking. We brainstormed together, shared our ideas, and thought about how we could make each other's ideas better. We also have come to the conclusion that if there wre more safely regulations and guidelines, there wouldn't have been 1500 dead at the end of this disaster. 700 people saved is better than none, but I think that with better planning, there could have been more people saved.

  5. In the Creative Problem Solving Titanic activity, I learned a lot of new skills. To solve a problem like this, you need skills like asking a lot of questions and digging deep for facts. Piggybacking off of other's ideas to come to a conclusion is also a very useful skill. You can use these skills anywhere!

  6. to be able to solve any kind of problem we use the creative problem solving. In life we will come across many problems in life wether it be big or samll, like if youu were in the kitchen and you need sugar to make a cake but you did not have any then you would need to find a wa to get some sugar. you might go to the store and get some or you could go to your neighboors. No matter how big or small the problem is you will be able to solve it.
When using the crative problem solving process you use skills like brainstorming, Fact finding, and asking questions.this is all a verry big help when it comes to CPS.

  7. I used lots of what I already knew like facts to solve the problem. The hardest part was trying to think of the solutions. The easiest was probably looking for and remembering the facts. I can use this process when I am in an argument or am trying to solve a problem.

  8. Creative problem solving is very important. The skills that we used where finding facts about the problem, then finding a solution to the problem. I learned that this process can help you find the solutions to problems. Creative problem solving can help in other parts of life whenever you are faced with a problem. This is why creative problem solving is important.

  9. In the Creative Problem Solving process, I believe that the following skills are used: thinking, creativity, brainstorming, and discussion. The hardest of the skills for me is the discussion. Since I usually listen just to myself, having other people's ideas can overwhelm me. I think that this process has helped me to know and do all of the skills above. The Creative Problem Solving Process will help me to become a skilled person in the workforce when I'm older, and to become a good group member when I work with other people. I'm glad I learned how to do this early, so it's guarenteed Mrs. Smith's 7th grade L.A students will be great!

  10. I think the creative problem solving process really helped my group come up with a better idea. The easiest part for me was identifying problems. The hardest part was coming up with 15 solutions for a single problem. You really need to think about this process to understand it and to be able to work efficiently. It takes a long time, but is useful. This process can help you in other areas of your life as well.

  11. We used the skills of debating on each solution/ idea we made. We see both sides of teh idea, teh pro-side and the negative sides, we see if its worth it, if the bad-sides are larger than the good sides, if the bad side is a bigger price to pay for the exchange of a good thing from the solution. It helps us make descisions in a life and see whether its worth it or not. After we debated, we chose several solutions that seems good and made a chart and wrote in the chart whether it was time efficient or saved more lives, ect. We choose the ones that seemed better using the chart. We can use this to help make descisions in life.

  12. It was fun to 'travel back in time' and help the Titanic save some lives. We had to go online and search for facts and clues to this great mystery. We then, in our groups, pinpointed what we thought a nice sized factor that contributed to this mess and found creative ways to help this scenrario. Altough it wasnt real, Im sure we could have done the impossible- save the Titanic!

  14. There are many skills incorperated into the writing process. Interperating was inportant because someimes the answer wasn't right in front of you, but hinding behind a blanket of confusion needed to be taken off by understanding. Also, there is thinking. You have to use your brain to think of creative ways that a solution could be found. Finally, there is to regonize important facts, such as the expansion joint on the Titanic. Then you have to take it a step further and research the topic, like what an expansion joint is and how it works. In my opinion, I would have to say that interpreting and understanding are the hardest qualities there are because something could mean many different things. It would eb hard to understand just what a person is saying without getting the full context. These qualities are very important to the Creative Problem Solving Process.

  15. I feel as though we used many different processes (skilled). The main one that was the easiest for me was getting a essay and having to read it to get facts and information about the Titanic. The one stage that I had trouble with was Critera, because I thought that it was going to be esay, because it is easy to do with a bookbag. But then we started it and it was very challenging, to me. What was yours? did you feel like you had the same problem? I learned many things, like that it striched over 2 huge waves. Also that the bottom needed to be lose in order to move from wave to wave. What did you learn? it can help, because we all have different problems. Also critera can help you in picking out many things.

  16. The Creative Problem Solving technique really helps you understand the problem and and solve it by reaching to a conclusion. As you start reaching the problem, the brainstorming is most difficult, but nescessary! I learn new skills to know how to research, and retrieve information which was unknown to me, until now! I learned a lot of extra knowledge! As you organized data, you came to a crucial conclusion. Actually, this process let's you learn a lot more than you need to, which is good! If there are any other real problems in life, I know how to brainstorm solutions! Improving a little bit at a time.

  18. in the creative problem solving process it used a lot of skills. it used brainstorming, decision making, and more. it really helped make our groups' decision on our Titanic topic. also, to me i thought that the narrowing doen was the hardest part. the reason why is because my group came up with the best solution we could come with and it was really diffucult to eliminate the best one. also, to me the easiest part was coming up with solution to the problems that we came up with. anyway, ive learned that all great decisions could be desifered in this process. also u could use this in everyday life

  19. I think creative problem solving is a good way to use your creativity (obviously), your logic skills, and also just working together as a team. i think that even if you have 3-4 great minds, the hardest part is coming up with a solution for just one specific topic. the easy part was being creative and making a descision about safety/ sturdiness. i think it is important to practice problem solving for the future, so that we can help others in creating a logical soloution for virtually any problemo! <3 -Sophia :)

  21. The value of the Creative Problem Solving process is that it lets you evaluate all the possibilities of a particular problem. The skills that we use are critical; thinking, and analysis. In learning the Creative Problem Solving process, I also learnt a very important skill that just may be used later on in life: not every solution is perfect; every solution comes with a problem, whether big or small. It's just like earning a lot of money and buying a mansion. On the plus side, you have much to show off and gain respect from your felloow friends, but you're also more likely to be disliked by people who are not so fortunate, and be a target point for burglars and criminals when you are not at home. This kind of valued thinking will help me make important, potentially life-changing decisions in the future, and the present. I am positive that this Creative Problem Solving process will not go to waste.

I have always been creative, but know I know how to train myself to use my creativity for problem solving! this is an important life skill that I will surely use in the future.

The skill i was good at was the creativity part... You know the whole coming up with an actual answer. The skill that was harder for me was the whole research concept. I am never good at research! And so that was a challenge for me. But I hope to one day get better!

You may have 10 ideas and then 5 and then 1 idea you like the best! It is really helpful because it evaluates every idea and eliminates the bad ones! I think we should use the Creative Problem Solving a lot more!!!

For me, it wasn't easy, but once your done and you look back at all your ideas that you have come up with, you will most likely impressed with what you came up with. We did the Titanic, personally I think the the problems were a bit easier to find, since the titanic had, unforuntintally, a lot of problems.

  35. The CPS is not as hard as you think, but there are steps to it. Some steps are researching, taking notes, brainstorming, and some decision making. I learned how to use these skills and also my resources to come up with a plan or a writing piece. This can help me later on because if your doing a research paper, i can use the skills to get all the information down and also put it in a creative way. I think the hardest one for me is decision making. The easiest one for me would be the taking notes. I have learned alot about the titanic and also about the CPS! * Kelli

THIS PROCESS USES MANY SKILLS LIKE: BRAINSTORMING, DESISION MAKING AND MORE. THE HARDEST THING THAT I THINK WAS IS THAT BACK THEN THEY DIDNT HAVE THE SAME TECHNOLOGY THAT WE HAVE TODAY. SO THE THINGS THAT WE WOULD OF PUT IN TODAY OULDNT BE AVALIBLE BACK THEN. 100 YEARS AGO THIS DEADLY SHIP WRECK HAPPEND. NOW, YOU SHOULD TRY TO FIND A PROBLEM THAT YOU COULD FIX TO HELP THE SHIP STILL BE ALIVE TODAY!

Some things I learned is that you had to use your creativity and think very clearly about your ideas, so they can actually be reasonable with the solution or result on what happened on the Titanic. If we had smarter ship builders back when the Titanic was made, we wouldn't have to find out how the ship crashed and if it was intentional.

  75. By going through all of the steps in CPS it helped me to stay organized and be able to finish my work in time. You can use CPS while doing any research projects and it helps you immensly. It was kind of difficult to come up with something to write in the end paragraph.

  76. I learned alot in the CPS (creative problem solving)process, but not just about the Titanic. I also practiced working successfully in a group, which is harder than it sounds. It is important to not get off task, but if you don't take some time to emphasise with your group members, then arguments break out, and less creativity goes into your work.
Also, CPS helped me practice comphremising. I think all of my group members worked to find solutions between conflicting views and to passively present ideas.

  77. The creative problem solving process helps us find a solution to the problem we need help with by going from step to step. It really makes you think about what the problem is and helps you find a better solution than before. It makes writing easier for alot of things. ••••••♥♥♥♥♥••••••

Cool technique to use to solve a problem that requires teamwork. I think that this involves many steps in order to find the most reasonable/ important solution to your problem, and you have to use the resources given to you. This is very long and sometimes a bit boring, but it is overall a cool tachnique that you would use to find a solution to a problem. This technique also can improve your thinking/ problem solving skills and can be very fun. The Titanic was a very cool topic, and I hope we can do another topic that has the same kind of background(meaning a huge diasaster)

  80. CPSis a very beneficial and useful skill to have when writing, dealing with conflict, and making creative solution. Throughout this process, I learned many helpful ways to make practical solutions in difficult situations. I think a good understanding of how to take in facts and develop clear ideas about fixing or contributing to them is necessary for mental and internal growth. I am really thankful to have learned about this.

  81. Creative Problem Solving is to help students solve creatively...(says captain obvious) critically and efficently. Some of the skills we learned are better ways to problem solve, think outside of the box, and to be awesome.

  82. The value of the Creative Problem Solving process is to learn vauable lessons to help us solve real life problems. I learned how to evalute situations or problems and make reasonable solutions. This kind of thinking can help me because in real life, you face many different problems and you will have to find a solution. To do so, you will need to know problem solving skills, such as the ones I learned in this activity.

  83. One thing Rehan learned is that ideas create a chain reaction and the chain eventually leads to a good solution. Sharon learned that one problem can be solved with many solutions. Steven learned that no matter how bad a situation gets, it can always be solved. For my team, the easiest part were the solutions and the ardest part was coming up with the criterions.
